Virtual E-Coat Download Spec Sheets

Developed for designers, paint area managers, and plant process engineers, VirtualE-Coat simulates the E-Coat painting process. Intended as a design tool, VirtualE-Coat can accurately predict paint film thickness on e-coated parts WITHOUT costly and time-consuming in-plant trials.

VirtualE-Coat Simulations can be used in the following ways:

  • Visualize new automotive body paint coverage.
  • Predict paint film coverage in hard-to-reach areas like rocker panels.
  • Reduce cost by managing paint and energy consumption.
  • Forecast costs to paint a new part.

Benefits:

  • Guarantee Quality by virtually testing new designs prior to production.
  • No more fixing poor E-coat film problems after a design is released. Areas prone to poor paint coverage can be detected and corrected before valuable time and money are lost.
  • Plants can perform virtual 'what if' experiments to evaluate cost reduction proposals.

Requirements:

  • Uses industry standard FEA software already in use at many companies (Algor FEMPRO Electrostatics Release 14).
  • Intel Pentium 4.3 Ghz with 1.5 GB RAM PC workstation is minimum.
  • Dual Intel Xeon is recommended.

In order to visualize how computer simulations can be used in several different situations, several case studies are shown to help our customers better understand what results can be achieved with VirtualE-Coat.

Case Studies A, B, C and D pertain to the Automotive Industry:

Case Study A: Visualizing 3D Car Body Paint Distribution
Case Study B: Analyzing E-Coat Distribution in a Rocker Panel.
Case Study C: Can Quality be improved by Adding ME Cells to the Tank?
Case Study D: Can the Existing E-Coat Tank Configuration Adequately Paint a New Automotive Body Design?

Case Study E is pertinent to job shops:
Case Study E: Simulating the Painting Process to Determine a Price Quote.

Case Study F correlates FEA simulation results to real-time lab results:
Case Study F: Lab Verification of E-Coat Simulation.

A beta version of VirtualE-Coat is coming soon. Full release of the software is expected to be released late Summer 2004.
