Flow Meter Repair

Please read all the instructions listed below carefully to familiarize yourself with the project before attempting to perform any of the work or unpacking any further

Required Materials and Tools:

  1. Clean rags
  2. (3) pvc ¾” Nipples
  3. (1) pvc ¾” (sxs) Coupling
  4. New Flow Meter
  5. (1) pvc ¾” Union (FTxFT)
  6. Pipe Cutter
  7. PVC Primer and Glue
  8. Gloves

This document is meant to be used as a guideline for changing out flow meters on the UF System to a different style.

  1. Remove old style flow meter from the top cap and the female adapter.
  2.  Cut vertical pipe 40mm above female adapter.
  3.  Remove rest of piping and set aside!
  4. Take one of the ¾” nipples and start to thread it into the top cap (be careful not to strip pvc threads).  Then start the ¾” union, then the other ¾” nipple, then flow meter.
  5. At the top of the new flow meter place the other ¾” nipple.  Then thread the female adapter that was cut from the rest of the piping.  Tighten this all together at once and it will tighten the whole assembly.
  6. Once tighten, replace the piping as it was set aside in step #3.
  7. Glue the coupling ¾” coupling to the stub pipe left in the female adapter.
  8. Measure the vertical pipe and cut to fit.  Remember to leave enough insertion for the other side of coupling.  Glue as required.
