How Often Do You Sample the Temperature of Your E-Coat Bath?

Have you ever wondered about the accuracy of the temperature measurement of the E-Coat bath?  How would you check it?  If you took a sample and walked back to the lab, it would be colder.  If you tried to place a thermometer in the E-Coat bath, it would be very hard to see the readout.  Our partner in India has discovered yet another use of the TruIDL Logger, which is a perfect solution!

In a trial run with the TruIDL Logger Model TU10, the temperature of the E-Coat bath showed 24 C   (75.2 F), which was colder than the regular temperature controller showed.  The tank temperature was set for  28 C (82.4 F) and the TruIDL temperature test showed the tank temperature was 24 C.

The tank was actually cooler than it should be.  The efforts of our partner lead to a correction that has helped save energy costs as well as address paint performance issues in film thickness attributable with colder E-Coat baths.
